Sedona

I beat mom and Carol home by only a few minutes yesterday. They'd done some exploring downtown and found a greenhouse/gardening store after a wrong turn. I have plants and a shovel now and mom has plans for my backyard. She also suggested a much better place for my dvd/china cabinet (it's an antique I've repurposed). It looks really good on my 2nd floor landing (and will look much better when we find the shelves and can move the pile of dvds from the top to inside. After moving it and emptying many boxes, we went downtown for wandering and dinner. We took Stephanie's recommendation on a place famous for their fish tacos, which were delicious. The living room boxes were all sorted before we went to bed so that room looks much bigger. The kitchen will be next, I think.

This morning we drove down to Sedona. We used the excellent strategy of eating at the first place we came to (after stopping at every scenic pull off, it was a bit late for lunch) and got lucky. Then we wandered through many shops. It had rained off and on during the drive so there was a nice breeze so it was a good afternoon to walk. The stores were an interesting mix of touristy and actual art. We didn't buy much but I'll probably be back down to Christmas shop.

We kept going south on 89 after the shopping so we wouldn't miss any of the red rock formations. I enjoyed being able to show off a bit since neither of them have been out here before. I'll try and post pictures when I have more time and can find all of my connections.

We took 17 back up to Flag, keeping an eye out for elk. Carol was stuck driving so she missed the ones mom and I saw (which were not moving toward the road, fortunately). I took them to Black Bart's for dinner. They hire NAU theater students for their wait staff and they put on a show when not serving. We had a good time trying to identify the songs (mostly from musicals). There was no more packing after a full day so we went with a Pushing Daisies marathon and then went to bed (or to the computer, in my case).
