Goodbye

Mom and Carol left ridiculously early yesterday. I saw them off and then went back to bed for a bit. They called later from Cleveland to let me know they'd gotten to Phoenix ok and found the rental car return. They were not happy with the grey and rain in Ohio, however.

In class, we had reviewers in for the protocols we wrote. I don't know if I've just been lucky or not but everyone I've talked to has been very good about criticizing without being mean or making us feel stupid. I think we're learning a lot this way. After lunch, we were sent made up data to go with our designed testing and spent the afternoon and this morning analyzing it and writing reports. This is our last assignment so we're all pretty relieved. Tomorrow will be reviews in the morning and graduation in the afternoon.

We started our 1:00 stats lesson at 11 today so we can leave early for bowling. Earlier this week we discovered, in addition to hurrying our classes, they'd also cut a lot of bonding stuff like hikes and lunches out and bar outings when they shortened GMU. We don't have much time left but we're going to try.

Our stats exercise today was comparing 2 brands of cookie dough cooked at 2 different time levels in an easy bake oven. Neither time was really long enough so we were pretty much analyzing the dough. It was unfortunate that this was a day with really good lunch so no one was really hungry for dessert.

I didn't do much last night. I tried to hook up my dvd recorder and vcr upstairs but the recorder can't see the cable for some reason. So frustrating, I'm pretty sure I haven't changed any wire connections from the condo. I finally gave up and will play with it this weekend (along with the internet, I miss wireless). I haven't decided where everything is going to go yet anyway.

I also cleaned out a path for the fridge and microwave hood which came this morning (Mike very nicely hung out at the house waiting for the truck. He's also going to see if I'm going to need an electrician for the microwave installation).

I'm extremely fascinated by your training process. It's completely foreign to me that you'd be going through such an intensive classroom session before actually starting to work. I guess they intend to keep you around long term or else they wouldn't be making this investment!

I was pretty surprised by the training also (and that it used to be almost twice as long). It should be extremely useful. We've gotten a ton of information and vocabulary but also formed relationships with a lot of people we'll need to work with in the future (this is a very relationship based company so knowing who to call (and having them know you) is pretty important. It's a big investment but it must pay off often enough for them.
