Crazy monday

Today was a busy, busy day. I started it by ignoring my alarm one too many times so had to skip packing a lunch (one day, I'll remember the night before) so I could collect the rest of my must haves for the day. I only had one meeting this morning but felt like I wasted the rest of it trying to hunt down people for signatures (unsuccessfully). Michelle, her officemate (Vivianna), and I walked a couple of miles over lunch (I bought a sandwich from the hot dog cart in between buildings). When we got back, I realized I'd lost my ID at some point so I had to retrace my steps. I didn't manage to find it but can now claim 4 miles of walking (putting me at 12. Almost halfway!). I tracked down my signers this afternoon too late to get anything done today but did some nice yelling so hopefully I can pick up the completed packet tomorrow morning (I'm not holding my breath).

After work, I ran some errands: bought a bike helmet and a fancy gadget that will help me track mileage and time while riding, went to the atm, and wandered through Target (it's so dangerous there. Things just jump into my basket).

Next was swimming with Megan. NAU's pool has master's swimming 3 nights a week. You can follow their plan or just swim laps. I knew going in I'm not in the best of shape and that I really have no experience with endurance but I was not expecting to have this hard of a time. I could not catch my breath at all with freestyle and only ended up doing 2 complete laps with my face in the water. The rest of my attempts ended with side or breast stroke for half. In the hour and a half we were there, I managed a half mile of swimming. I'm blaming the elevation but know I really just need to keep at it.

After dragging myself out of the pool, I drove over to Michelle's to babysit. Her son's baseball games are all scheduled for 7:30 which is not convenient for anyone with younger kids. In order for both Mike and Michelle to make the games, they need to put their daughter to bed and then leave me on their couch. Since they made cookies over the weekend, I'm very happy with this arrangement. I'm really looking forward to going home though.
