Tomatoes
I came back from Kate's wedding with a couple of tiny tomato plants. I didn't really expect them to survive the plane ride and replanting (my mom mistook them for weeds (they didn't get watered during my DC trip)). I haven't spent much time in my back yard this summer so I didn't realize I had any tomatoes until Chris recommended I start covering it at night. My back yard doesn't get much direct sun so my plant is a bit behind. I'm hoping the tomatoes ripen before it freezes.

I had tomatoes spontaneously sprout in the location I've planted them for the past two years. So I've been harvesting them (though obviously they're a bit behind schedule since they had to grow from seed) and I just stewed a bunch last night. Not really sure what I'm going to use the saucy base for yet but the bucket full I had on my kitchen counter was starting to go soft so I had to do *something*.
