Jake has figured out that I don't mind if he sits on the higher arm of my counter (I have no idea if it has a more official name). He's still nervous about it and gets jumpy if I try to pet him (both cats know they're not supposed to be on my counters so they'll run if I catch them) but he goes straight for that spot when I'm in the kitchen.

Sally gets jumpy if I try to pet her when she's perched anywhere, too. We've got a little cutout in the stairway wall that she likes to sit in to view the rest of the basement and she always flinches when I pet her as I'm coming down the stairs.
