The second saturday I was home, the Saginaw Zoo opened with special Earth Day activities so I dragged my mom out to see the animals. It had been a very long time since I'd been there (so long that I almost accused Michelle's son of lying to me when he told me about the penguins he'd seen with his grandma). They've done a lot of renovating, most of which is lovely. But they took out the cement whale they'd had in the pond (the mouth was wide open and contained tanks of fish and insects). For some reason, I can't find a picture anywhere on the internet, unfortunately.
I was very happy to see they still let peacocks wander the grounds:
We picked a good time to go for less people but not for awake animals. It was definitely naptime.
We said hi to the otters for my sister:
Not a lot of the zoo felt familiar but I do remember playing on this dolphin (I'm pretty sure we're not responsible for the missing eye):
Llama!

I'm saving the penguins for their own post. Too many pictures.
