Sunset Crater

After rescuing the cats from the snow, we drove out to Sunset Crater.

Very cool! I didn't know that there had ever been volcanic eruptions in Arizona. Especially, in recent geological history.

They actually think it erupted as recently as between 1080 and 1150 AD. There's evidence the locals noticed the early signs and moved out for a bit.

We found a little snowman friend when we were at the Grand Canyon (holy crap, has it been that long?) 9 years ago! I guess it must be an Arizona thing?
